Welcome! I was the Reader’s Advisory Coordinator (3 years) and one of the Reference Librarians at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library for 6 years. I had worked at the library for 10 (2005-2015). My name is Melissa and I was born in Montreal, but raised in Chomedey, Laval, Qc. I have Hungarian parents and I am the youngest of three daughters.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Concordia University in 2002. I received my Masters in Library and Information Studies from McGill University in 2007.
I am an Aquarius, so I love unique, eccentric and creative things! My biggest passions are books, music and cars. I live in Montreal with my husband and our two cats, Gamora and Groot.
I have created this space because I wanted to start discussions about the books I read. I’d love to see your comments about the books I review.

Well, I am not sure if there are any out there that do exactly the stuff that I do, but each book I focus on can have their own sites to go to, I’m sure. For example, many publishers have reading guides for books so that book clubs can enjoy them, and there are definitley reviews of books. The interesting information with the tidbit parts and favorite quotes are something original that I thought of—but I’m pretty sure there are other blogs that review books and think up of different things to put in their posts. There are also many other online book clubs, but for some you have to actually register or be a member of the library that is offering it. Mine is free for anyone who wants to discuss!
I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.

Some comments come from people all over the world, and therefore, English is not their first language. But I do get a lot of spam and have to determine which comments are truly sincere or just posts that snuck in. Sometimes the comments really do not make sense, so I prefer not to post them.
I have another blog which is called Melissa’s Booklover Musings. You can follow thses two blogs by clicking “follow”. I share these posts as well on my library’s website (Cote Saint-Luc Library) and the library’s facebook page. My personal facebook page is private.
I appreciate your comments, but the headline I chose was meant primarily for the people of the library. We never had an Online Book Club before and so this was enough to get people wondering. Anyone and everyone in fact is welcome to view it and participate, but my goal was not to attract thousands of people just because. My posts are not newspaper articles. They are (especially this blog) for those who want to join a book club online if they have no time to meet people in person. I do have pictures up and links to the interesting things I bring up. At the moment, I have not come across any videos for my purposes. Thanks!

Hi, Felica. Actually, I would like to know what is confusing to you? My blog is exactly what it says it is. It is an online book club. I tell a bit about the book, give sources for reviews and information about the author. I provide discussion questions and allow people to make their own comments so that the book can be discussed online. Whether people actually make comments is besides the point. I provide information to those who may get together in groups to discuss the particular book featured every month. Some just enjoy reading everything I say about the book and would rather not leave any comments. Sometimes my posts propel readers to pick up a title they would have not thought of reading. As for marketing, my blog is free and is part of my job here as a librarian. I put this out there for readers who like to talk about one book at a time. I hope this makes sense to you.
